. TERRAIN EFFECTS

CLEAR Clear terrain represents open areas of grass.
Clear terrain has no special effect on movement or combat.

WHEATFIELD/CORNFIELD Field terrain includes cultivated areas
of wheat, corn, or hay. Fields offer no protection
from enemy fire. Units in a wheatfield which are not moving
or firing cannot be seen by enemy troops.

FOREST Forest terrain contains uncultivated stands of trees and
bushes. Forests offer protection from enemy fire, and
significantly slow the movement of troops.

ORCHARD Orchards contain groves of peach, pear, or apple
trees. Orchards offer some protection from enemy fire, and
slow the movement of troops.

ROCKY/BOULDERS Rocky terrain contains large boulders and bushes.
Rocky terrain, especially boulders, offers protection from enemy fire,
and significantly slows the movement of troops.

MARSH Marsh terrain contains puddles and wet ground.
Marsh significantly slows the movement of troops.
.
ELEVATION Elevation affects movement and combat.
Units at a higher elevation than their opponents are
more effective in fire and melee combat. Uphill
movement is also slower than normal.
